A warm welcome to Casa del Tempio, a beautifully and lovingly restored, fully furnished, traditional Italian house which nestles amongst similarly styled houses deep in the heart of the historic Old Town of Casoli, Chieti, Italy.

The house is in a quiet location and the substantial stone walls keep the house cool in the summer whilst keeping the warmth from the log burner in during the colder winter months. Roam through the ancient winding streets, discover historic Italian courtyards, wander through the medieval castle and experience an Italy as far removed from tourism as can be found.

Just 30 minutes’ drive to the fabulous clear blue waters of the Trabocchi Coast on the Adriatic Sea, you will discover sandy beaches running along a mild sea which is perfect for swimming. Here you will find the trabocci (from which derives the name 'Trabocchi Coast'), traditional lodges built on stilts for the Abruzzo fishermen to catch shallow water sealife. Many of these trabocci have been converted into seafood restaurants offering you a unique dining experience both day and night.

Located just outside of the Maiella National Park (10 km from the park border) you are surrounded by beautiful countryside: mountains, forests, rivers and meadows, with the local area offering horse riding excursions within the National Park, rafting and kayaking on the Aventino river or if nature is your interest there are many wild birds, exotic flowers and native wild animals inhabiting the park.

The property has been completely renovated, is equipped and furnished for the comfort of our guests and accommodates 2 people.

Click on the buttons below to see our house, the town and the Abruzzo region. We have included just a few photos because we think that exploring for yourself is a big part of any holiday and there is so much to explore in both the town and region.

This beautifully and lovingly restored traditional Italian Town house has been transformed from a shell of a building (albeit a sturdy shell, having walls 3 feet thick) into fully modernised and comfortable accommodation, keeping the charm of the surrounding houses on the exterior whilst offering a bright, cool and comfortable interior which has retained its traditional ceilings plus the original stone façade in the spacious bedroom, located on the first floor.

Below is a list of the house’s key items and equipment. However, if you have requests for items not listed we will try to provide them where possible.

Casoli is easily accessible from various airports including Pescara (52km), Bari (277km), Naples (182km) and Rome Ciampino (228km). Airport transfers can also be arranged with a local company.

The property is situated right at the heart of Old town Casoli, just down from the majestic Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore (dating back to the Mid15th Century). To the left of the church is a short walk up to the ducal castle of Casoli (also called Masciantonio castle). Wander through the historic alleyways and courtyards of medieval Casoli before meandering down to the more modern town where you’ll find shops, gelataria (ice-cream shops), bars, delicatessens and a variety of other shops (Casoli is the main town for 24km).

We felt very comfortable during our 10-day stay in "Casa del Tempio". The house is equipped with all important things, so we didn't miss anything. In addition, the house is located in the center of Casoli, so everything can be reached very quickly. There is a bar nearby where we had a good Italian breakfast. But the supermarket is also quickly accessible, so that we could shop the most important things.

We really liked Casoli because it is a beautiful village with an interesting castle. There are many delicious specialties to discover (especially sweets) and the residents are very friendly and helpful. In addition, due to the good location of Casoli, the mountains are quickly accessible for beautiful hikes, but also the sea with a great sandy beach after about 30 minutes by car.

‘We’ve had a great week – Casa del Tempio is a lovely house….. A wonderful base to explore the region….. We didn't find a house to buy that was suitable this time, but we plan to come back later in the year and would love to stay at your house again!

‘Love the House and so pleased to have found it! A fabulous place to explore the beautiful countryside and we were surprised just how quickly and easy it was to get to the beach. The wine tasting excursion you sorted out for us was great and we wish we could have brought more back with us.'

'I so enjoyed staying at Casa del Tempio it was clean (way bigger than i thought it would be) & well placed within Casoli. Janice provided detailed information on every thing of interest & was so helpfull with any problems i had & how to solve them (how to get to Casoli by bus). Would recommend staying at Casa del Tempio to everyone, i loved it.'

'Amazing location. For a reasonably priced place to rest your head after a day exploring the region, it really was perfect. Despite its central location, it is quiet and peaceful. The ceilings are lofty and my partner who is 6ft 7 didn’t have any problems the rooms. The bed is definitely king-size and the bedroom is huge. Beong able to open the balcony doors in both the bedroom and the living room allowed fresh air in and kept the house reasonably cool compared to the 40 degrees outside. We loved it!'

What a lovely house. It looks old and traditional on the outside yet very modern on the inside, while keeping some of the more interesting features (the alcove and archway in the living area and the stonework in the spacious bedroom was a lovely feature). The folder of information you leave is a lovely touch and we found it really useful not only for things in the house but also what we could find in the town and surrounding area. We were surprised just how quiet the house was, being so close to the castle and church but loved every minute of exploring the histroic part of town (there was more than we first thought) and then being able to stroll down to the town centre for food and drinks and especially ice-cream :) We will certainly look to stay in your house again
